It’s impossible not to root for donny sands

At 26, his life has already encountered more ups and downs than a Six Flags theme park. From the sudden passing of his father in 2012 (who he was extremely close with), to living out of his car in high school, to being drafted by the freakin’ Yankees, and then years of grinding it out in the minors, his story is defined by an unwavering self-belief and will to succeed. But if you ask him...he's just getting started.

Donny and his mom, Alma, reminisce over his early playing days and first-ever bobblehead at their home in Tucson, Ariz.

Donny gets serious with his offseason workouts with his longtime coach/mentor/trainer Vic Acuña.

Finishing up a garage gym session with his younger brother Bryan.

Donny never misses a chance to get batting practice reps and hang with the current team at his old high school (Salpointe Catholic in Tucson).
